*NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS*
1) MEETING TIMES CLARIFICATION
We continue to meet THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS every week. Thursday sessions are regular playing sessions, and we basically meet for games. Saturday sessions are study sessions where we get together to do some problems and other fun stuff. Thursdays we play at the Hopkins Center Cafe in Hanover (next to the Hood Museum Shop) from 2pm to 8pm (just drop by within that time slot). Most Saturdays we play at the Hopkins Center Cafe from 2pm to 5pm. On the second Saturday of every month, we usually play at Borders Cafe inside Borders Bookstore at 285 Plainfield Road, West Lebanon from 2pm to 5pm.
2) NO GO MEET-UP AT BORDERS THIS SATURDAY
On account of the MGA Tournament and the Guo Juan Workshop, the Go Meet-up at Borders this Saturday has been cancelled.
3) MASSACHUSETTS GO ASSOCIATION FALL HANDICAP TOURNAMENT
The MGA Fall Tournament is coming up on October 8th 2006. This is THIS SUNDAY. Those interested in going should e-mail Alex at ahenzel@together.net for car pooling details. The tournament will be all day Sunday in Somerville, MA. Anyone who can afford the time should participate. Details at:http://www.massgo.org/tournaments.html
4) GUO JUAN 5P COLUMBUS DAY WORKSHOP
Conflicting with the MGA tournament, same as usual, is the Guo Juan Go Workshop at the Woodlands from the 6th to 9th of October. Some members are likely to participate. If interested, e-mail Karen at plomp@together.net for details. Details at: http://brooklyngoclub.org/gc/cgi-bin/disp_topic.iphtml?topic_id=308
5) REGULAR SATURDAY STUDY SESSIONS
Just to clarify again about Saturday activities, if you do not receive an e-mail confirmation (either a newsletter or a separate confirmation) on the Friday before a Saturday session, it means the session is cancelled. If you do receive an e-mail reminder, do come and study some go! Thursday sessions are always on.
6) INFO FOR BEGINNERS AND NEW MEMBERS.
The above has been removed from the newsletter and added to the end of the club website on Sensei's Library (http://senseis.xmp.net/?UpperValleyGoClub). New members and beginners should read through the section, it contains instructions on playing with the club online, as well as links to useful websites for beginners to learn the game.
